Not feeling very crafty

On Thursday I ran out of the yarn I was using for a project -- I had thought I had more than plenty, but I was wrong. Since then, I've been to nearly countless stores in 2 different states -- and indeed today spent several hours driving to every near-local store I could think of, even the unlikely ones. And searching for stores I thought existed that didn't (anymore?). During a small break when I was home, I went to eBay and found what I thought might be the right stuff -- there were 4 skeins left -- but they described it with a word I didn't remember being part of the description for my yarn, so I didn't buy it. I ran out to a few more places. At 7:03 I pulled up at the Jo-Ann's, which closed at 7. Came home. The eBay was sold out. Most of the Google hits take me to a Jo-Ann site, which no longer has that color. And of course the first Google hit is that one eBay auction. Taunting me.

I hate shopping. Especially when it's unsuccessful.

What's the yarn? If you're not on the knitlist, you should be because they're great about hunting up things like this. How much do you need?

1 more skein should more than do it; I'm on the border.

Lion Brand, Baby Soft, color Baby Green, which is the same color as Pastel Green (which I'm thinking, all else failing, I can just use for the border) except it's got the satin-looking strip running through it. The references I saw (and the eBay) refer to it as Pompadour, although I don't remember that being on the label.

If I can get out at a semi-reasonable time today, I'll cross my fingers & scoot by the Jo-Ann that defeated me yesterday.

How much traffic shows up on knitlist? I suppose if it comes in digest form I can handle one more e-mail a day. (Took 2 days off last week, and had 910 unread messages this morning...)

A lot of traffic on the knitlist, I have a no mail option set, but questions like this get answered and you can ask a question and read it online without reading the 500 other posts.

WalMart has Lion Brand yarns in baby colors. I'll check when I go up tomorrow, if you like.

Thanks. I appreciate you checking if you'll be there already.

(FWIW, Wal*Mart is one of the stores I've visited in 2 different states.)

Is there a dye lot?

I do not believe so.

I just found a sale on eBay and picked up a couple.

The "pompadour" refers to that white twist running through it.

Seems it's a color Lion discontinued :(.

Thanks. I'd gathered that (after investigating and seeing pictures of the pink and blue -- and thinking that they really looked _just_ like what I had, except for the color) -- which is when I went back to eBay. Good to get confirmation, though -- so next time I'll just jump.
