I occasionally help out by carrying the pager for one of the departments. (It doesn't hurt that they pay me a token amount to do this.) Recently it was decided that we're going to be getting rid of the pager, carrying a Treo instead. Cool toy, but it does not come with a belt clip.

I got it last Friday, and took time off of the household and personal things I was (supposed to be) working on and crocheted a bag to hold the Box-Of-Junk that came with it, as well as a smaller sock/bag/sling/whatever-you-want to put just the phone in.

My team-mates think some of my ideas regarding the phone are stupid, but the person to whom I gave my crafts along with the Treo and Box-Of-Junk seemed pleased as well as a little astounded that I did this. (Hopefully I'll have time the next time I get the "pager" to make a sock-thing for the charger as well -- it's currently shoved into the big bag -- we'll be using it enough that I figured it didn't make any sense to keep it in the cardboard box, along with the software and other stuff inside the big bag.

I'd probably have just shoved the thing into an old sweat sock and pinned that around my belt. Classy!
They tried to give me a crackberry at work last year. I told them they could if they really wanted to, but since I was never anywhere except home, work, or going between the two, and I lived in an area with no Nextel coverage, I didn't really see the point.

Ah, but not all of my clothing has a belt, or a place to put it. So I'll wear this little albatross around on my neck. If I lose that, nowhere to carry the Treo will be the least of my worries. (Ooops, sorry... I'm being a walking literal room again...)

Since I'm not paying for the coverage, I figured I didn't have much say in what service they purchased. Hopefully this will be more reliable than the pager. And have a better range.

We went through an orientation session where we were told that once a week (when we hand off the device to the next person) we needed to do a hard reset to remove our (Outlook) password and all of our mail, etc. I just refuse. I have NO desire to put my mail onto it, so I'm not setting up mail anyhow. I figure if I'm going to need to suppor them, I'll need to find a real puter anyhow. One of the other people who has carried it already might be coming over to my way of thinking, but if only one of the others insists upon putting her e-mail on it, reset at least once a month it will be.

A treo necklace.... cool!

I can provide you some extra sparklies, if you'd like to make it prettier.... (:

Hah. Thank you -- but since it's owned by the department & shared amongst a few ohter folks, that probably would not be something I should take you up on.

Ah, gee . . . not even just one little sparklie?
